A video background adds natural movement, but it also introduces changing contrast and possibly a second audio source. Lyrical Video requests video frames by timestamp for preview and export, while keeping text as separate editable layers.
Check the source codec, not only its extension
A browser must decode the selected video and any paired audio stream. A familiar container such as MP4 can contain different codecs, so an extension alone is not a compatibility guarantee. Unsupported media fails explicitly.
Use the final source clip when arranging lyrics. Different frame dimensions, crops or edits can change where a subject moves and where readable text space exists. Check the opening and a later frame before building the whole sequence.
Arrange timing, source offset and layers
The clip's timeline interval determines when it appears, while source offset determines which portion of the source is used. Moving the clip in the project and changing its source offset solve different problems. Trim and position it before polishing text transitions.
Keep lyrics above the background using layer order. A locked background can still be selected for inspection, but cannot be moved accidentally. Select the text again before using canvas arrows for position.
- Import a supported video and place it on the timeline.
- Set its start/end and source offset.
- Adjust dimensions and fit for your canvas.
- Place and style the lyric clips above it.
Avoid accidental duplicate soundtracks
A video layer with embedded audio contributes to the soundtrack. If you also add the song as a separate audio layer, both may play during their overlap. Slight offsets can sound like an echo, and identical overlapping tracks can increase level unexpectedly.
Track mute controls audio. Visual visibility is not the same as muting the soundtrack. Check which layers actually produce sound, then mute or trim intentionally. The mix sums sources rather than automatically normalizing them.
Review moving contrast and the final MP4
Scrub frames where the background becomes brighter, the subject crosses the lyric area or the camera moves. A text style readable on the first frame may fail later. Use an outline, different placement or a quieter clip rather than assuming constant contrast.
Export a representative segment and play it in your destination player. Confirm that frames, lyrics and embedded sound are correct. Long or high-resolution sources still consume browser resources; timestamp-driven rendering does not make every source effortless on every device.
